In this drawing, I draw inspiration from the stark black and white minimalism of Irving Penn’s photography. I surround the figure in darkness not simply for atmosphere, but as an allusion to the unseen challenges many of us navigate as women. Emerging from that field of black, she reflects the quiet strength and mystery that take shape in solitude. The single pale bloom becomes a counterpoint, a subtle expression of resilience and the light we ultimately learn to claim as our own.
