Welcome to Smartermarx Magazine — a community of artists, educators, and researchers advancing empirically grounded practice. We welcome pitches, finished articles, research notes, artwork, tutorials, reviews, and letters in any language.     Content/Editorial Submissions

    We accept:

    • Articles & Essays (average: 1,000–2,500+ words) — art business, pedagogy, materials & methods, perceptual science, artist profiles.
    • Artwork Features — single works or series and/or works-in-progress. Please include all relevant info (titles, sizes, media, website (if applicable) (75–150 words).
    • Tutorials / Step‑by‑Steps — process write‑ups, demonstrations, experiments.
    • Reviews — exhibitions, books, tools, materials (disclose any relationships).
    • Letters & Short Takes — opinions, questions, debate prompts (300–800 words).

    Languages: Any! All content will be subject to translations.

    Note on Originality: Submissions must be original to you. If previously published, you must have the rights to re‑license it and disclose prior publication.

    Artwork Media Specs:

    • Images: JPEG only-1MB filesize maximum
    • File names: name_title_size_medium
    • Captions: title, year, medium, dimensions, courtesy/credit line, anything else relevant.

    Response & Editorial Process

    • Acknowledgment: You’ll receive an email confirmation immediately.
    • Review: 1–3 editors review for fit, quality, and verification.
    • Edits: We may edit or revise for clarity, accuracy, and length.
    • Fact‑checking: Provide sources for claims, data, and quotations.
    • Publishing: Accepted work is scheduled for web; select pieces may potentially appear in our PDF/print editions and social channels.

    Plain‑Language Rights & License (What you’re agreeing to with submission)

    • You own your work. By submitting, you grant the Smartermarx Magazine website a non‑exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty‑free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, publish, distribute, display, store, translate, adapt, edit for house style/formatting, create promotional excerpts, and otherwise utilize the submitted material in any media now known or later developed, including website, newsletters, social media, podcasts, and PDF/print anthologies.
    • We may make editorial changes (formatting, headline, house style, typographic fixes, image optimization) without further approval. Substantive edits may be discussed with you when feasible.
    • We will translate your submission and publish the translation.
    • You may republish your work elsewhere. We applaud the propagation of solid info.
    • Why this license? It lets us feature your work across our platforms (web, PDF/print, newsletter, social) and keep the archive accessible long‑term, while you retain full copyright.Formal Terms (Binding)

    By submitting, you represent and warrant that: 

    • Originality & Rights: You are the creator or have authority to submit; your submission does not infringe any copyright, trademark, moral rights, contract, privacy, or publicity rights.
    • Permissions: You have obtained written permissions for any third‑party content (quotes, images, data) and can provide them upon request.
    • AI Disclosure: If AI tools were used in any stage (text, image, audio, translation), you disclose the tools and extent of use. You remain responsible for originality and rights.
    • No Restricted Content: Your submission contains no unlawful, libelous, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or otherwise prohibited content; no sensitive personal data of others without consent.
    • License Grant: You grant Smartermarx Magazine a non‑exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty‑free, transferable and sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, publish, distribute, display, perform, translate, adapt, edit for style/format, excerpt, promote, and create derivative works for editorial packaging and promotional purposes, in all media now known or later developed.
    • Moral Rights: You assert your right to attribution; we will credit you as supplied. You waive only those moral rights necessary for editing, formatting, and translation.
    • Indemnity: You agree to indemnify and hold harmless all parties related to Smartermarx, Smartermarx Magazine, including but not limited to its editors and affiliates, from claims arising from breach of these representations.
    • Minors: If you are under 18 (or under your jurisdiction’s age of majority), submission must include verifiable parent/guardian consent.
    • Privacy: We collect submission data solely for editorial operations and communication; see our Privacy Notice below.
    • Withdrawal: You may request removal from future publication runs; archival copies and prior distributions may persist.

    Privacy Notice (Short)

    We collect your contact details, submission content, and metadata for editorial review and publication workflows. We may contact you about edits, scheduling, or related opportunities. We do not sell submitter data. We may share information with service providers (hosting, email, translation) under confidentiality. To request data access or deletion, email smartermarxmagazine@gmail.com.

    Simultaneous Submissions & Prior Publication

    • Simultaneous submissions: Allowed.
    • Previously published work: Allowed if you hold rights to re‑license. Disclose prior publication and any exclusivity windows.

    Prohibited Content & Standards

    • Plagiarism, undisclosed AI‑generated or AI‑heavily‑assisted content, hate speech, harassment, defamation, incitement, or illegal content.
    • Images of others without consent (where required by law) or sensitive personal information without explicit permission.
    • Non‑disclosed paid endorsements. Please disclose material connections.
    • Takedown & Corrections
    • Takedown requests (copyright/privacy): email documentation to smartermarxmagazine@gmail.com.

    Corrections: If a published piece contains factual errors, contact us; we will review promptly and post corrections or updates when warranted.

    Accessibility & Translation

    We strive for accessible formats (alt text, captions, transcripts). Non‑English submissions are welcome; we may commission or produce translations.
