Celebrated painter Oren Loloi is now offering live, one-on-one online mentorship sessions for developing artists. Based in Tel Aviv, Loloi brings a wide-ranging background in fine art, illustration, design, papercut work, and contemporary oil painting to a practice grounded in direct painting, imaginative realism, and psychologically charged figurative scenes. Born in Tel Aviv and shaped by years in New York, Milan, and Israel, his work often places figures within quiet, dreamlike environments where structure, atmosphere, and narrative ambiguity carry equal weight.
Loloi’s background gives his mentorship a particularly broad foundation. He studied Fine Art and Humanities at Hofstra University, earned an M.A. in Illustration Studies from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and continued his painting education at the Art Students League of New York. Before devoting himself fully to independent studio work, he worked professionally in graphic design and art direction, including at NBCUniversal, where he later managed an art department and developed a strong practical understanding of visual structure, communication, and professional creative practice.

In 2012, Loloi founded Papercuts by Oren, creating bespoke handmade ketubot and developing an international commission-based art business. His current oil-painting practice has been exhibited in Tel Aviv and New York, including Fresh Paint Art Fair, The Space Art Gallery, Shabtay Art and Collection Gallery, and the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery. His work has also received multiple Jackson’s Art Prize longlist selections, a Sol Tanne Merit Grant, and recognition for publication and licensing.

Loloi’s mentorship is designed for serious painters seeking technically grounded, individualized guidance. Sessions are held live online and may include direct critique, real-time digital paintovers, composition analysis, color and value development, material and process guidance, brushwork, edges, workflow, and support in building a cohesive body of work. Rather than offering generic instruction, Loloi works from the student’s own paintings, helping identify recurring problems, clarify artistic direction, and develop the ability to self-correct.
With experience across studio painting, design, illustration, commissioned work, and international art communities, Loloi brings a practical and deeply visual approach to mentorship—one aimed not at teaching students to paint like him, but at helping them see more clearly and make stronger decisions within their own work.
